Web based Cabs roam free in Hyderabad!

Web based cabs continue to roam free in Hyderabad and other cities of the country even though there are concerns raised about the safety in those vehicles. Transport authorities temporarily banned these services as they do not come under the purview of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 or Information Technology Act, 2000.

But very soon they realized that they can not do so as the Internet based cab services present themselves as technology service providers rather than taxi operators. These services do not employ drivers directly nor do they have their own fleet of vehicles. So banning them by seizing vehicles or preventing them from plying on the road. As a result the ban was lifted days after and these cabs are runing successfully across the nation.

Telangana Transport department is planning to establish a centralized monitoring room for all hired transport taxis, auto-rickshaws and private buses in collaboration with the state police department.Also rules will be very soon restructured to bring these services under IT laws.
