Also, it will depend on how the Andhra Pradesh government decides on the re-opening of theaters. The industry is hoping that Andhra Pradesh allows the theaters at least 50% occupancy from July 1st. So that at least the small films can be released. The last experience of the industry with the Andhra Pradesh government has been bitter.
The government has troubled Pawan Kalyan‘s Vakeel Saab a lot. The government also brought an Old G.O. mandating very low ticket rates for films. There were reports that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been harboring some animosities with industry biggies citing lack of proper respect.
If that is really the case, we will see Jagan trying to delay the re-opening. Also, the upcoming biggies targeting Dussehra would have to bargain with the government to ease the ticket rates. If the Jagan government budges easily, we may have to consider the Vakeel Saab incident as an issue more to trouble Pawan Kalyan.
If the government stretches, we should conclude that those in power in AP are not happy with the way the industry is functioning.
