What is the Interest of Modi – Shah in Jagan’s Tirade Against Judiciary?

The letter Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has written against Justice N.V. Ramana, the next in line to be the Chief Justice of India, is creating ripples across the country. Jagan met PM Modi and HM Amit Shah a week before and there are rumors that he has the support of the Center is taking on Ramana.

The second senior-most judge in the Supreme Court, Justice Ramana is scheduled to become the next Chief Justice of India on April 24, 2021, and demit office on August 26, 2022. Buzz is that BJP may help Jagan in this tirade against Ramana so as to benefit the next senior-most judge in the Supreme Court, Justice Uday Umesh Lalit.

Lalit is known to be an RSS-favorite and is rumored to be the Lawyer of Amit Shah in n two high profile criminal cases involving the killings of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsiram Prajapati in Gujarat. In case, Ramana becomes the CJI, Umesh will be the CJI only for 74 days.

If Ramana is out of the contention, Umesh will assume office in April 2021 and can continue until November 8th, 2022. YSR Congress Government is hoping that the Central Government would help it in this issue due to this reason. In the history of Independent India, there is no single instance of a High Court or Supreme Court Judge getting impeached.
