Who Is Paying Jayalalithaa’s Medical Bill?

Former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s 75 days stay in the hospital almost costed close to 8 Crore. About 3 crore is towards the medical treatment and hospital ward for Jayalalithaa in the Critical Care unit and the High Dependency ward. A critical care specialist who was flown in from London several times and the physiotherapist who came from Singapore charged about 3 Crore.

During Jayalalithaa‘s stay in the hospital, four rooms on the second floor were used as an office by O Panneerselvam, chief secretary Rama Mohana Rao and advisor Sheela Balakrishnan, which comes to another Rs 2 crore. One room was allotted to Sasikala, on the third floor of the hospital.

AIADMK will pay for the treatment and the government will only pay 2 Crore towards the rooms and the other charges will be borne by the party. Sasikala already paid for her room and a part payment of the Rs 3 crore bill towards the specialists. AIADMK also paid for the medical expenses of Late MGR back then.
