Why Jagan Can Not Scrap The Council?

From the past few days, there were rumors that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is keen on scrapping Council since TDP has the majority there and is blocking the key bills of the Government. The rumors became rife after TDP embarrassed the Government by temporarily stalling Three Capitals Bill in the council the other day.

Some media channels reported that Jagan has called for an emergency Cabinet meeting on Tuesday night and will move a resolution recommending the scrapping of the Council. But nothing such sort has happened. Sources say that Jagan has come under severe pressure not to do so.

“Before the 2019 elections, Jagan had to make several adjustments during Tickets Distribution. Many leaders were promised MLC Posts. They will now revolt if Council is scrapped. TDP majority will go away in a year or so. YSR Congress will bag the major seats since we have 151 MLAs,” a source in the party told

Even though the Chief Minister is angry, he had to take a break keeping this in mind. If at all the Council is scrapped, Deputy Chief Ministers – Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and another minister, Mopidevi Venkata Ramana were also the members of Council and will be out of the Cabinet.
