Why Vij Metro is ahead of Vizag Metro?

The other day, DMRC had called for the tenders for the civil works of Vijayawada Metro Rail Project first phase. However the works of Vishakapatnam Metro Rail may be delayed further. It may take at least three months for the works to kick-start. For various reasons, DMRC delayed giving the DPR of the project.

The DPR will now have to be ratified by the state cabinet and then have to be approved by the central government. This should take at least three months to happen. The DPR works are delayed due to addition of Gajuwaka in the last minute. Also the DPR works were distured for more than one and half month due to Hudhud cyclone.

Interestingly, the Metro Rail Project of Vishakapatnam was planned earlier to the state bifurcation. Vijayawada Metro works planned after the bifurcation are ahead now. The Chief Minister wants to complete the first phase of Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam Metro Rail Projects well before the upcoming 2019 elections.
