Why YSR Congress is Going All Out on Pawan Kalyan?

There is an interesting shift in Andhra Pradesh Politics last week. YSR Congress Government had unleashed a fleet of its Kapu Leaders and Ministers to target Janasena President, Pawan Kalyan after the latter called for a Long March in solidarity to Construction Workers after the Sand Shortage.

YSR Congress Leaders are attacking Pawan Kalyan like there is no tomorrow. Telugu Desam Party called for a similar protest a few days ago but the ruling party leaders did not attack the party with this intensity. So, this has come as a surprise to everyone but YSR Congress sources say there is a good reason for this.

“This is the strategy of YSR Congress media like Eenadu and Andhrajyothy. They propel a fresh face like Pawan Kalyan and rake anti-incumbency. Just before the elections, they sideline him and bring Chandrababu Naidu as the alternative. So, we do not want to give any chance to Pawan Kalyan,” our source in YSR Congress said.

But then, Political experts say that the more YSR Congress leaders attack, they will only make Pawan Kalyan a bigger political force which is not good for YSR Congress. “There is also a feeling in the Kapu Community that Pawan Kalyan is being targeted using the leaders of their own community. This may consolidate Kapu vote to Pawan Kalyan,” they analyze.
