One prominent handle on Twitter wrote, “Rajnikanth, who is both bigger in stature and age than Yogi Adityanath, is touching his feet. Rajnikanth is 72, and Yogi is 51. Why is a superstar touching the feet of a politician? He lost all respect today.”
Another one wrote, “The fame of South turned into the shame of South.” Some also praised Rajini’s down-to-earth nature. Yogi Adityanath fans also jumped to defend Rajinikanth and wrote, “Maharaj Ji is first Mahant of Gorakhnath Mandir. Politics is nothing in front of his position as Mahant. Rajnikanth knows it. Those who are opposing it or ridiculing him for his gesture, you know nothing about respect.”
But the overall reaction, especially from Tamilians, has been negative. They didn’t expect their superstar to fall on the feet of a politician, who is also accused of being a hate monger.
Earlier, a special screening of ‘Jailer’ was attended by Adityanath’s deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya, who praised Rajinikanth’s acting skills. Rajinikanth also met the governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt Anandiben Patel, at Raj Bhavan and will be visiting Ayodhya soon.
