Will BCCI Sack Selectors And Coaching Team?

Team India’s World Cup Campaign is finished in Semifinal after the team lost to New Zealand. This kind of result is just not sufficient since, with the quality we have, anything less than getting the cup is unacceptable. Reports are that BCCI is keen on taking action on the selections and the Coaching Team for this missed opportunity.

MSK Prasad led Selectors Committee faltered big time in the selection especially handling the Number Four Position. All-rounder Vijay Shankar was picked for that spot initially but Test Opener KL Rahul played at that spot in India’s first ICC World Cup 2019 match. Later when Dhawan is injured, Rahul was made to open.

After that, Shankar picked up an injury, they flew in opener Mayank Agarwal to fit into the middle-order who did not play a single match in the tournament. Dinesh Karthik was picked as a backup for Dhoni but played as a Batsman. This indicates there is a lot of confusion in the selection.

Coming to the Coaching Department, there is a criticism that Ravi Shastri is not fit for the job and should be replaced by some professional coach. Ravi’s contract ends with the World Cup but he may be given a 45-day extension till the end of West Indies series. He may be shown door after that.
