Will Center wave red flag to KCR’s dream project?

Telangana government’s dream project of transforming Hyderabad in to a Global City, the Strategic Road Development Project (SRDP) is hitting roadblocks. The project already is facing land acquisition problems at Jubilee Hills Check Post where the land acquisition costs are going over the project cost.

And now the elevated expressway between Paradise Circle and Shamirpet is also running in to similar problems. The project will need nearly 95 acres of Secunderabad Cantonment. Telangana government ran in to several such issues with Union Defense Ministry but at all the times, the state government had to go for alternative plans.

The state government is likely to send a team to Delhi to take up the issue with the Defence Ministry but is not hopeful. In case, that turns to be true, the elevated expressway between Paradise Circle and Shamirpet may turn to be unviable if a change in the plan is inevitable.
