Will PM Modi Come to Jagan’s Rescue?

While the whole world is after renewable energy, Jagan’s Government turned it down and said they are going to opt for the cheaper Thermal energy. This is despite the fact that there is an acute shortage of coal for Thermal Power Plants and also, the concerns of pollution due to these plants.

While the state government has terminated the contracts with the Solar and Power companies, a shortage of coal has cut down Thermal Power in Andhra Pradesh. With no other option, the Chief Minister wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allocate the Mandakini Coal Mines to Odisha to AP GENCO.

Jagan reminded the Prime Minister that Singareni Colleries were given to Telangana after the bifurcation and Andhra Pradesh is not even given a share in the coal reserves. Jagan brought to the notice of the Prime Minister that 7.5 MMTAs of Coal is needed for Andhra Pradesh every year.

Even in the winter and rainy seasons where the Power demand is usually low, Andhra Pradesh is witnessing 2-3 hours of Power Cuts. If that is the case, Summer would be even dreadful unless the Center decides to help Jagan.
