Speaking at the Congress Meet on Friday, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy threw a challenge for a debate with BRS and the BJP. He asked them to decide on a place. Be it Assembly or Parliament, be it Modi in Delhi or ‘gallilo unna’ KCR or KTR, we will have a debate on farmers’ issues, he called out.
Responding to the challenge, BRS working president KTR said his party was open to the idea of debate. He asked Revanth Reddy to select a place, be it Assembly or Press Club, so that they can have a face-to-face debate.
KTR sarcastically added that since Revanth Reddy needs time to prepare, they can hold a debate at Somajiguda Press Club on July 8 at 11 am.
However, the Telangana citizens are amused with these developments as the BRS leaders have been challenging Revanth Reddy to come for a debate for quite some time.
Similarly, the CM has been talking of an open debate. But till date, no time has been set and neither has a location been decided.
If one looks at it, globally, political debates are quite common prior to elections. One classic example is that of the US, where both parties have a live debate.
Given that the local body elections are coming up in Telangana, it would an ideal time for a debate. But the million dollar question is, will the debate actually happen? While the BRS has been demanding for a debate for some time now, Revanth Reddy has challenged the opposition in his latest public meet.
But will the CM show up at 11 am at Somajiguda Press Club on July 8?
