Will South Go Modi’s Way This Time?

The Third Phase Polling for General Elections has concluded the other day. The Verdict of the Voters of 302 MP Seats is sealed in the EVMS. 302 Lok Sabha Segments amounts to 55% of the total seats in India. Polling in all the 130 MP seats of South India is completed and it has to be seen how BJP fares here.

South India is the Achilles Heal for BJP. The Party has presence only in Karnataka here. Political Experts say that the party will lose a good number of seats here to Congress – JDS alliance. In Tamil Nadu, BJP allied with AIADMK hoping for a turn in their fortunes. BJP hopes to perform well in Kerala due to the Sabarimala Issue.

The party is likely to draw a blank in both the Telugu States where it won Three Seats the last time. The Saffron Party will be looking at a Post-Poll alliance with TRS and YSR Congress in case the need arises. In the remaining four phases, 241 MP Seats will go for the election which is 45% of the total seats.

The last phase of the elections will happen on May 19th and that evening, all the TV Channels will air their Post-Poll Surveys. The counting across the country will happen on May 23rd and the results will be out on the Same Day. It has to be seen if Modi will get a Second Term.
