AP Leads in Women Entrepreneurship in India

Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a leader in women entrepreneurship across India, setting a new benchmark for inclusivity and empowerment. As per recent data, the state has 49 percent women entrepreneurs in Udyam-registered MSMEs, well above the national average of 33 percent.

This progress reflects the long-term vision of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has promoted women empowerment since his earlier tenure in united Andhra Pradesh. Urban women benefitted from the IT boom, while rural women gained support through schemes like Dwacra that provided microfinance opportunities.

To strengthen this further, Andhra Pradesh recently launched the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) chapter in the state. The new MSME and Entrepreneur Development Policy for 2024–2029 will provide mentoring, skilling, financial support, and community networks. These efforts aim to empower women in the MSME sector and continue the state’s inclusive growth journey.
