Photo: World’s largest jet arrives in Hyderabad

The An-225 Mriya (Ukrainian for ‘dream’), the World’s largest jet arrived in Hyderabad a few minutes past midnight on Thursday. The jet will halt at Shamshabad Airport for 20 hours for refueling and rest for crew during a flight from Prague to Perth. The jet is carrying 130 tonnes of energy equipment for a Western Australian mining company.

The jet will take off from Hyderabad on Saturday and will reach Perth Airport on Sunday. It is expected that 50,000 people are expected to watch the arrival of this gigantic aircraft in Australia. Hyderabad is chosen for the halt based on several factors such as the length of the runway, ground maneuvering area, technical facilities, air traffic density and proximity to the trans-continental air route

From the Hyderabad airport, the plane will taken in 120 tonnes of fuel along with it from here. The aircraft jet is so big that it can accommodate a spacious cargo which can hold a Boeing 737 aircraft. The Ambassador of Ukraine and a host of dignitaries, and representatives of GMR and Air Shagoon welcomed the crew of An-225 Mriya.
