The “Weekend CM” Drama: YSRCP’s Identity Crisis?

The YSRCP’s current obsession with where the CM and Deputy CM spend their weekends is a clear sign of a party struggling for relevance. By fixating on the Jubilee Hills residences of Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, the opposition is effectively making a mountain out of a molehill. When a party starts treating a leader’s home address as a primary political weapon, it usually means they’ve run out of actual policy failures to criticize.

This “Hyderabad vs. Andhra” narrative is rapidly turning into a self-goal. While the YSRCP focuses on where the NDA leaders sleep, the public is watching those same leaders secure national awards and massive central funds. Making a “joke” out of high-level meetings with the Prime Minister in Hyderabad only highlights the opposition’s own lack of a constructive agenda. It feels like desperate shadowboxing rather than real political opposition.

Ultimately, the people of AP care more about the work being done in the village secretariats than the logistics of a weekend commute. By blowing these small things out of proportion, the YSRCP risks looking disconnected from the ground reality. If they don’t pivot to substantial issues like farmer welfare or job creation soon, they’ll find that trivializing the CM’s schedule only makes their own political future look like a punchline.
