YSR’s Death Gave Life to KCR

Jairam Ramesh who is a part of Group of Ministers (GoM) who played a crucial role in the state bifurcation by drafting the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, penned a book ‘Old History, New Geography’ about what happened back then. He made some interesting comments speaking at a function organised by Manthan Foundation after releasing his book.

He termed bifurcation as an ‘unmitigated disaster’ and a ‘spectacular self-goal’ for Congress which was killed in both the states politically. However he stated that two years was too short a time to gauge if bifurcation of AP was a success or failure in the point of view of both the Telugu states.

“There are several ifs and buts about how we did the bifurcation. If KCR had been inducted into the Cabinet by Naidu? If YSR was not killed things might have been different. YSR’s death gave life to KCR,” Jairam Ramesh said that with a tinge of sadness as Congress is wiped out of AP and is on the verge of extinction in Telangana.
