OUR RATING

What is “Anna” about?
Vishwa [Vijay] is a passionate dancer holds a dance troop name “Telugu Boys “in Australia and makes his survival running a mineral water supplier company. Meera [Amala Paul] joins Vijaya’s dance group to win a dance competition and eventually both fall in love within no time. Meera’s father keeps a condition to agree to her marriage with Vishwa, in this process lead pair lands in Mumbai to meet Rammurthy [Sathyaraj ]. How is this Ramamurthy? What is Meera’s father condition? Has to be seen on silver screen.

How is Vijay as Anna?
Vijay was outstanding throughout the film. He dominated the film with brilliant screen presence, performance and his mannerisms are cool to watch on screen. I think he lived up to the expectations of Telugu audience this time, he looked better and performed far better than his last flick Thupaki.

How is A L Vijay’s direction?
Director A L Vijay fails terribly to impress audience again like his last film. He has unnecessarily dragged the second half way too much and there is no engaging screenplay which will hold audience to nearly 3 hours run time. A L Vijay direction stands as biggest negative aspect of this movie.

What about Amala Paul and others ?
Amala Paul looked beautiful even in limited scenes, she did justice for the role given to her. Satya Raj made his presences felt in the movie. Santhanam provided the necessary comedy and evoked laughs every time he appears on screen. Abhimayu Singh fits into the bill and played a key role.

How is Music, Songs, Dances other departments?
Songs are not so soothing, lyrics are terrible to hear & utter and BGS also didn’t help to elevate important scenes in the movie. Cinematography is nice and scenes shot in Mumbai backdrop are visually good. Editor should have used his scissors a lot especially in second half. Screenplay is not racy to create any curiosity and routine story will kill interest which got generated with few twists in the movie.

Highlights?
– Vijay’s Performance
– Interval Bang
– Santhanam Comedy
– Cinematography

Drawbacks?
– Music
– Editing
– Direction
– Run time tests your patience

What about its box office prospects?
There is no great stuff to get hold of the A center audience and even it lacks mass, masala appealing scenes which attracts B & C center audience so I guess people would keep a safe distance from Anna. So there are bright chances that Anna reel boxes will go back to labs very soon.

Did I enjoy it?
Not really.
