Paisa as the title suggests is all about money. Its about 50 cr money of a politician that goes around for tossing. How is is Prakash (Nani) connected to it completed the simple storyline of the film.
How is Nani’s performance?
Nani is the lifeline of the film. He holds the film together with his performance which at times have the trademark over action associated with a Krishna Vamsi film hero. Few scenes stand out in the narrative as far as acting are considered from Nani like the one emotional scene when he is told about Noor (Catherine Tresa) agreeing in marry.
Direction by Krishna Vamsi is extremely patchy. The film has a simple storyline but the director takes his own sweet time into getting it. He penchant for realistic narrative and whacky characterization’s don’t really merge here well. The resultant output is neither engaging nor entertainer wholeheartedly. Its a middling affair with engaging moments in between. The film for sure bears his stamp but its no longer working for him for sure.
Catherine Tresa played a character that is devoid of her usual glamour show. Yet she manages to attract. Siddhika Sharma played a female character that usually over act in a Krishna Vamshi film. Her accents and dubbing are irritating. Charan Raj gets a decent character after a long time. His character length is small but he manages to create an impact even with that small length. There are couple of supporting characters who are decent.
Music by Sai Karthik is average, but the background score compensate to the average music. Even some of the mundane scenes are elevated by the background score. Cinematography is patchy and editing is messy as well. Production values alright. Choreography of songs is poor; especially considering this is a Krishna Vamshi’s film.
Highlights?
Nani’s performance.
Dialogues related to money.
Few thrilling movements.
Drawbacks?
Thin story line.
Typical Krishna Vamshi’s mark over action.
Muddled Screenplay.
Paisa is releasing amidst a very tight schedule of films. Therefore it requires a good word of mouth to draw the audience to the theaters, unfortunately the film lacks in this aspects. Add to it couple of Nani films are about to release as well. All these make Paisa very difficult to sustain at Box Office.
Did I enjoy it?
Partially.
Will you recommend it?
No.
