Filmmaker Kiran Rao responded to Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s criticism of her not addressing misogyny in Aamir Khan’s ’90s films. She highlighted Aamir’s public apology for problematic content like the song “Khambe Jaisi Khadi Hai” on his show Satyamev Jayate.
Kiran emphasized Aamir’s accountability for his work and suggested Sandeep address him directly. Kiran, divorced from Aamir in 2021, co-parents their son Azad and collaborates professionally. Aamir is co-producing her upcoming film.
“I’m not responsible for Aamir’s work or Aamir Khan,” she made it clear and also confirmed that she has not watched the film Animal but often spoke about misogyny.
