A series of explosions rocked the Kalamassery area in Kerala this morning. Tragically, one individual lost their life, and several others sustained injuries at a Christian convention center near Kalamassery around 9:30 am. Reportedly, a large crowd, consisting of thousands of people, was present when the incident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, multiple explosions occurred within the convention hall, where an estimated 2500 people had gathered. Attendees had come from neighboring areas such as Varapuzha, Angamaly and Edapalli. The initial blast took place while people were engrossed in prayer, causing panic. Witnesses describe there were subsequent smaller explosions, further adding to the chaos.
The situation was compounded by difficulties in evacuating the injured, as the convention center had been locked from the inside. Regrettably, one woman lost her life as a result of these blasts.
