BRS Party Faces A Setback in Supreme Court

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party faced a setback as the Supreme Court rejected its plea to prevent the allocation of “car” like symbols to other parties. The BRS party had raised concerns about the allocation of symbols to parties and candidates in elections, urging the court not to allocate symbols like road roller and chapati maker alongside the car symbol.

The bench, led by justice Abhay S. Oka, asserted that voters are sufficiently informed to distinguish between a car and a roti maker, implying that there is no need to restrict or regulate these symbols.

In the previous election, symbols similar to cars received thousands of votes, which seemingly impacted the BRS party’s brand. This prompted the BRS party to seek redress in the Supreme Court.
