Cricket is all set to make a grand return to the Summer Olympics in 2028. This marks the return of the Sport to the Olympics after 128 years of its previous appearance. Cricket will be played in the T20 format in the Olympics.
The IOC formally ratified the addition of cricket to the Olympic Games at LA28 during the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai on Monday.
Along with Cricket, Baseball – Softball, Flag football, Lacrosse, and Squash have been also officially included as additional sports in the Olympics of 2028.
The Olympic Games are estimated to have an audience of more than three billion viewers across TV and digital platforms, representing a unique opportunity for cricket to engage new audiences.
This will further boost the popular sport’s reach across the world.
