National Cyber Security Coordinator, MU Nair, reported that cyber attacks in India have doubled since 2022, surpassing the global average.
Speaking at the Synergia Conclave – 2023, he disclosed that ransomware attacks resulted in an average payment of Rs 12,826 crore over a 10-month period. In addition to the official figures, Nair highlighted unauthorized payments reaching into thousands of crores.
India experienced an average of 2,126 cyber attacks per week over the past six months, compared to the global average of 1,108. Nair emphasized the need for global cooperation to combat the escalating threat of cyber attacks.
