EC Issues Notice To Rahul Gandhi

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has sent a warning notice to Rahul Gandhi from the Congress party regarding his statements about Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public rally in Rajasthan. Gandhi used words like “panauti” (bad omen) and “jaibkatra” against Modi.

The EC stated that using the term “panauti” is against the Representation of People Act. They also highlighted that political parties and candidates should avoid baseless criticism of opponents.

During his speech, Gandhi suggested that Modi brought bad luck to the Indian cricket team in a world cup match, calling him a “panauti.”

The EC wants Rahul Gandhi to respond to this notice by November 25, given the violations of certain electoral codes in his statements against Modi.
