In Telangana, voting behaviour differs a lot. Hyderabad, a key part of the state, doesn’t seem very interested in elections. Graduate people there might prefer spending time with family over choosing leaders for five years. This isn’t the same in rural areas where folks show more interest in voting.
In Hyderabad, many people are educated – about 83% are literate. But when it comes to voting, they don’t show much enthusiasm. Even in fancy areas like Jubilee Hills, only 45% of people vote, while in Patancheruvu, the voting percentage went up to almost 76% in 2018.
Last elections also faced less votes from Graduates. Meanwhile, the state’s announcement of this year’s election date November 30 as a paid holiday aims to boost participation. So, let’s hope
people in Hyderabad might set an example by voting more this time, showing everyone in rural areas how important it is.
