Infosys Murthy Defends Controversy

Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy stood by his assertion that Indian youth should commit to a 70-hour workweek to elevate India to the level of developed nations. Facing considerable backlash on social media for this statement, Murthy defended himself by citing the principles instilled by his parents, emphasizing that diligent work is the key to averting poverty.

Reflecting on his own life, he recounted adhering to this ethos for the past four decades, starting his workday at 6:20 am and concluding at 8:30 pm.

Murthy staunchly affirmed that he consistently surpassed the proposed 70-hour workweek, dedicating six days a week to labour for upwards of 85-90 hours. He attributed the fruits of his success to this rigorous dedication and hard work.
