
On the centenary of the late Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), the Central Government marked the occasion by allocating funds for a commemorative coin. This special 100-rupee coin, honoring NTR’s legacy, was released, sparking tremendous interest.
The Hyderabad mint witnessed an unprecedented response, setting a new sales record. Within just two and a half months of its launch, a staggering 25 thousand coins were sold.
VNR Naidu, Chief General Manager of the Government Coin Printing Center in Hyderabad, hailed this achievement as a landmark in the country’s history of commemorative coin sales. Celebrations ensued, with VNR Naidu, along with Mint officials Srinivas Gandapanedu and Tanaji, participating in a program chaired by NTR Centenary Committee Chairman TD Janardhan.
Highlighting the significance, VNR Naidu explained that the sales of the NTR commemorative coin have surpassed previous records, reaching 25,000 sales, outperforming the prior benchmark of 12,000. Chairman TD Janardhan proudly declared that among the 200 commemorative coins released nationwide, the NTR commemorative coin holds the top spot for the highest sales, solidifying NTR’s enduring popularity and legacy.
