Star Cricketer’s Deepfake Video Goes Viral

After the likes of Rashmika Mandanna and Kajol, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar fell prey to deepfake technology. A viral deepfake video surfaced on social media, depicting Sachin endorsing the gaming app “Skyward Aviator Quest.”

In the video, Sachin even mentioned that his daughter, Sara, was benefiting financially from the app. Subsequently, Sachin had to publicly clarify that the video was entirely fake. Sachin posted the video and tweeted, “These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers.”

“Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes,” he further added.
