TS Govt’s Insurance For Gig, Platform Workers

In Hyderabad, the state government has announced a significant move to bolster the welfare of gig and platform workers. These workers will now be covered under accident insurance, providing Rs. 5 lakh in coverage.

In the unfortunate event of a worker’s death due to an accident, the government will grant Rs. 5 lakh as insurance compensation to their families. During election campaigning, Rahul Gandhi pledged to prioritize their welfare, and CM Revanth Reddy recently held discussions with these workers.

Now, the government aims to extend accident insurance, aligning with journalists, to gig and platform workers, such as auto drivers and home guards. The Labor Commissioner has been instructed to implement this decision.
