
Ahead of the Telangana Assembly Elections, political funding via electoral bonds reached a total of Rs. 1,148.38 crores. The Hyderabad branch of the State Bank of India led the way by raising Rs. 376 crore, the highest among 14 cities.
During the 28th phase of electoral bond issuance, a total of 2,012 bonds were sold, with the purchase window open from October 3 to October 13. It’s worth noting that this fundraising activity took place just ahead of the Telangana elections.
These bonds were acquired in various cities, including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Jaipur. Of the five available denominations, a significant majority, 95.352%, were of the Rs. 1 crore denomination.
