Bengaluru has found a creative way to stop people from littering. The city’s civic body has launched an initiative that makes residents think twice before throwing trash carelessly.
Bengaluru civic marshals are tracking people who dump waste in public areas. Once caught, their trash is returned to their doorsteps, along with a fine of Rs 2000. The goal is simple—to make littering an uncomfortable and embarrassing act.
The move has shocked many residents of the tech city. Recently, an entrepreneur took to X to complain about poor civic responsibility in Bengaluru. Soon after, Biocon Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw called the city “filthy” and criticised GBA, formerly BBMP, for letting garbage and debris pile up.
The new initiative by GBA aims to restore Bengaluru’s clean and green image. Named “You Dump It, You Get It,” the campaign targets repeat offenders and discourages careless waste disposal. It’s a step towards holding citizens accountable for the city’s cleanliness.
