A 19 year old bride from Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh reportedly called off her wedding on February 20, 2026. The decision came after a member of the groom’s family allegedly assaulted her pet dog during pre wedding rituals.
The incident reportedly took place around 4 am while ceremonies were underway. According to reports, the bride’s dog began barking during the rituals. A relative from the groom’s side allegedly beat the animal with a stick.
The act angered the bride, who immediately objected to the behaviour. She reportedly stated that she could not marry into a family that showed cruelty towards animals. Her strong stand shocked both families present at the venue.
Soon after the confrontation, tensions escalated between the two sides. A physical altercation broke out, with members from both families using sticks and nearby objects. Five people sustained minor injuries, though no serious harm was reported.
Local police intervened and took both families to the station to control the situation. The matter was resolved without filing formal complaints. Gifts and valuables exchanged between the families were returned following the cancellation.
