A wedding in Agra took an unexpected turn when a bride walked out just hours before the ceremony over a disagreement regarding basic amenities.
The incident occurred in Shamshabad, where the bride had arrived at the venue and found that the groom’s side had not arranged for an air-conditioned room, despite the intense summer heat.
Feeling suffocated by the heat, the bride demanded that an AC be installed in her room. She called the conditions “unacceptable and inhuman.”
However, her request was denied by the groom’s family, leading to a heated exchange between both sides. Tensions escalated further when the groom allegedly hurled abuses at the bride and her family members.
Deeply hurt and offended, the bride decided to cancel the wedding and left the venue with her family. She later told police that if the groom’s family could not respect her basic needs and dignity even before marriage, her future with them would be bleak.
Attempts were made by local police to mediate and resolve the matter, but the bride stood firm in her decision to call off the marriage. Her family supported her choice and chose to end the engagement formally.
In addition, the bride’s family filed a police complaint accusing the groom’s family of making dowry demands involving cash and expensive gifts. The police have begun investigating these claims.
Eventually, the bride’s family agreed to reimburse the expenses incurred by the groom’s side in organizing the wedding. With this settlement, they left the venue, putting an end to a wedding that never happened.
