
Festive celebrations are in full swing across the country. The two Telugu states are actively enjoying the season with colourful rangolis, flower decorations, traditional food, and family gatherings. The festive mood has brought people together in large numbers.
Telugu citizens are taking part in rangoli contests, bull competitions, cock fights, cricket, volleyball, and kite flying. These activities have encouraged many people to travel from cities to their native villages. As a result, demand for food items has risen sharply.
Chicken prices have increased significantly in villages and towns. In Vijayawada, chicken is selling at Rs 350 per kilo. In smaller cities and towns of AP, prices have reached Rs 370 and may touch Rs 400 soon.
In Telangana Hyderabad, chicken prices range between Rs 300 and Rs 320 per kilo. On regular days, country chicken is sold at Rs 1000 to Rs 1200. During Sankranti, prices have surged to between Rs 3000 and Rs 5000.
Seafood prices have also shot up during the festive period. Fish, prawns, crabs, and other seafood are selling at very high rates. Cities like Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Machilipatnam, and Bapatla are seeing prices in the thousands, which may remain till Sunday.
