Gujarat Woman’s Self-Marriage Anniversary Celebrations

A year ago, a 24-year-old girl from Vadodara went viral after she opted to marry herself in a traditional ceremony. On June 11, Kshama Bindu married herself. Kshama holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and is presently employed as a senior recruitment officer at a private firm.

Kshama raised a few eyebrows in the country since the notion of sologamy is still not widely accepted. For the uninitiated, sologamy, or autogamy, is another word for self-marriage. Supporters of this institution argue that people who practice sologamy enjoy happier lives and are better equipped to actualize their own beliefs.

Kshama recently uploaded a video montage of herself enjoying her married life to the fullest on Instagram. “Happy 1st Anniversary,” she captioned the photo. The post has received over 1,200 likes and several comments. People expressed their gratitude and wished her the best in the future. It took Kshama hours to persuade her parents of her condition. In the end, they both consented to her requests. Kshama had a vacation in Goa for her honeymoon.
