A tragic incident took place in LB Nagar, Hyderabad. She is a resident of Mansurabad, Vambe Colony, had a love marriage. Just days after her wedding, she died by suicide, shocking the community.
She left behind a note stating that her husband and her in-laws tortured her. He had allegedly demanded Rs 30 lakh as dowry, and she faced domestic violence because of it. Even her in-laws reportedly abused her. Family elders tried to intervene but her husband did not change his behaviour.
Unable to bear the harassment, she ended her life. Her parents have filed a case against her husband and his family following her death.
Marriage counsellors say couples must understand each other well before getting married. They also stress the need for professional counselling, as family based counselling often focuses on prestige rather than addressing the real problem.
