An unusual incident, featuring a father’s unique and unusual agreement with his son has captured the internet’s attention.
In a post shared on Reddit, an anonymous user shared how his father made a handwritten contract promising him 40% of his monthly salary till retirement if he got into a top premier institute like IIT, NIT, or BITS Pilani.
However, the note also had a massive twist of its own.
It also said that if the son got into a tier-2 or tier-3 college, then he’d have to give 100% of his monthly salary to his father.
The post quickly went viral all across the internet, with many diving in on the fun.
One user said, “40%? My parents’ deal was ‘unconditional love’ which, let’s be real, is also a lie.”
Another commented, “So, basically, the dad’s either funding early retirement or getting a new car. Smart.”
While this situation is a good one to get a laugh out of, one must remember that putting undue pressure on any kid often backfires, with their self-esteem and confidence getting shattered in case of failure.
Parents should condition their kids in a way that they become sufficiently able to bear both outcomes of the coin of life, be it success or failure.
