In a turn of events, a team of Karnataka police officers, including an inspector, found themselves on the wrong side of the law when they were detained by their counterparts in Kerala for alleged extortion. The incident stems from a cryptocurrency cheating case that had the officers crossing state borders in pursuit of suspects.

The dramatic sequence of events unfolded as the Karnataka police squad ventured into Kerala to apprehend two individuals linked to a cryptocurrency fraud case. Successfully locating and detaining the suspects, the officers took an alarming and unlawful turn by allegedly demanding money for their release.

Reports reveal that the detained officers demanded and collected sums of money from the accused individuals. One of the accused reportedly parted with Rs 1 lakh, while the other, perhaps more coerced, paid a staggering Rs 2.95 lakh. The situation took an unexpected twist when one of the victims sought help from his fiancée, leading to the intervention of Kerala police.

Swift action was taken by the Kerala authorities, who not only detained the errant Karnataka police officials but also managed to recover a total of Rs 3.95 lakh from their possession. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Baby P V, affirmed that a comprehensive investigation was underway to ascertain the facts surrounding the detention and extortion claims.
