Gas queues are becoming a regular image in media. Of course, the idea is not to get scared as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured the country that the crisis will be handled.
In fact, YouTube influencers are doing their bit by showing cooking hacks that can reduce gas consumption. But the problem seems to be catching up with the IT giants too.
After Infosys, TCS, Cognizant and Wipro have told their employees to get food from home. As their canteens are facing vendor problems due to reduced supply of LPG, the companies are forced to push the onus of arranging for food on to the employees.
It is common knowledge that most IT techs provide a huge spread of various items for breakfast, lunch, snack time and even dinner time. The memos have been sent to their facilities in different cities. The food court vendors are helpless and so are the companies.
Meanwhile, the plight of IT employees too is sad. Many work away from home and depend on office meals. With bandiwalas and small eateries shutting shop, the IT professionals are being forced to find ways to arrange food on their own.
Usually, the companies bear the cost of meals or give food coupons. This new development is meant to put financial pressure on employees. The situation will be worse for women employees as they also depend on office meals. Cooking and managing office work adds to the domestic workload. Many IT couples eat at offices while their children eat at school canteens.
The new development will put stress on the family dynamic till the situation turns manageable!
