Monkey Trouble at Delhi Assembly Gets a Unique Solution

The Delhi Assembly is planning a new and simple method to tackle the growing monkey problem at the Vidhan Sabha. Monkeys frequently enter the premises, climb buildings, damage electrical wires, and disrupt staff and visitors during working hours.

To address this issue, officials plan to hire people trained to imitate langur sounds. Langurs are larger monkeys, and smaller monkeys are naturally afraid of them. Hearing these sounds usually forces monkeys to flee the area.

Earlier attempts included placing langur pictures and cutouts around the complex. However, monkeys quickly realised they were fake and stopped responding. As a result, that method failed to provide a lasting solution.

Under the new plan, trained personnel will produce realistic langur sounds during office hours. They will work in shifts and follow strict guidelines. Their role is limited to scaring monkeys away without causing any harm.

Officials consider this approach animal-friendly and safe. No monkeys will be trapped or injured. The Assembly hopes this method will significantly reduce disruptions within the complex.

While many find the idea unusual, it is also being seen as practical. Authorities believe such low-cost and humane solutions can help maintain safety, cleanliness, and order at the Vidhan Sabha.
