Harassment on Roads: A Scary Reality

The incident involving YouTuber Neetu Bisht has once again brought attention to the serious issue of women’s safety on Indian roads. Such cases highlight how unsafe public spaces continue to be for many women.

Neetu Bisht was reportedly followed from Delhi to Greater Noida by a group of young men. They allegedly used abusive language and displayed inappropriate behaviour, which is a criminal act and should never be ignored.

Harassment through obscene words or gestures is punishable under the law. When such actions do not face strict consequences, it sends a wrong signal and creates the belief that offenders can escape without fear.

In this case, although the issue reached the police, Neetu Bisht and her husband requested that no FIR be filed. While the intention may have been kind, legal action would have delivered a stronger message.

As a public figure, Neetu Bisht has a large influence on her followers. People expect influencers to take a firm stand against harassment and promote accountability in society.

Forgiveness is a personal decision, but justice is a social responsibility. Only strict action can ensure safer public spaces and discourage such behaviour in the future.
