In sports, records are meant to be broken, and some are more desirable than others. However, there are records you just don’t want to hold. Pakistani bowler Haris Rauf comes into the limelight for all the wrong reasons in this context.
In the scenario, considering the most runs in a tournament, Haris Rauf had a spell of 64 runs and 3 wickets, reaching the top spot. Ironically, this record was set against England, who had the previous record holder.
The 30-year-old Pakistani international became the first Pakistani bowler to concede 500+ runs in a world club tournament, breaking the notorious record of England spinner Adil Rashid. Rashid managed to concede a whopping 626 in 11 matches, but in terms of a match-per-runs average, Rauf overshadows his credit.
Rauf, based on performance, wasn’t the worst, managing to capture 16 wickets in 9 matches. However, in terms of conceding runs, he has all the capability to make any batsman jealous with the new tally of 533 runs.
He isn’t the only one who came near that record, as Shaheen Shah Afridi also wasn’t too economical but managed to grab 18 wickets, the highest among Pakistanis. He conceded 481 in the 9 matches as Pakistan wraps up their league phase.
