A shocking incident from Bengaluru has been capturing the attention of Indian social media due to its alarming nature.
A social media user recently took to X to narrate the plight of an elderly couple who were hit by a speeding Swiggy delivery rider.
The user said that the overspeeding delivery guy hit the couple, making a loud bang, after which they had to be immediately rushed to the hospital.
While the woman did not receive any fractures, she was in intense pain due to the collision.
This is not something new to this country. A rapid increase in these delivery apps, along with absurd guarantees of 5 to 10 minutes for literally anything has led to delivery drivers breaking all rules and laws to get to their destinations on time.
This has often led to accidents, which could easily have been avoided had the driver shown some basic sense of traffic discipline.
There is a high need for the authorities to put their foot down and create some kind of regulation that compels these companies to ensure their drivers prioritize road safety over absurdly quick delivery.
Otherwise, we will continue to see more of these freak accidents where innocent law-abiding people continue to get hurt.
