Shiv Bhakt Deported: India Ignoring Bigger Issues?

The recent rescue of a Russian woman, Nina Kutina, and her two daughters from a cave in Karnataka’s Ramatirtha hills has ignited a storm of debate. Of course, everyone till now has come to know about her mysterious spiritual journey due to which she wanted to stay in the caves and worship the deity.

However, another thing that has caught many people’s eyes is the glaring double standards in immigration enforcement. Nina, who entered India on a business visa in 2017, had been living in isolation in the forest.

She is said to have continued worshipping a Rudra idol and surviving in seclusion with her young children.

While police have initiated her deportation process, many online are questioning the speed and intent behind this move.

For instance, an X user pointed out, “Lakhs of illegal Bangladeshis live in India but police will deport the harmless Russian women who don’t pay the bribe.”

Another one tagged PM Narendra Modi and wrote, “ please look into the matter, they never harm Indians or Indian Culture why you deporting them?”

The contrasting treatment has raised concerns about selective enforcement and the unspoken nexus between illegality and corruption.

As Nina and her children are moved to an ashram awaiting deportation, many are left wondering if her real “offence” was simply not being part of a system that often turns a blind eye, for a price!
