Dark Side of Biggest Mela: 1000 Girls Dirty Theater

The Sonepur Mela, known as Asia’s biggest traditional fair, has come under scrutiny for disturbing and illegal activities. You may know it for its scale and colour, but recent checks revealed around 1000 girls were used in secret dirty theatre shows, exposing a darker truth.

This revelation has triggered serious concern around safety and exploitation within the fair. When you see an event of this size, you expect strict control. What surfaced instead points to organised abuse operating without fear inside the mela grounds.

An agent was caught on camera telling visitors to drink outside and then meet a girl inside a small cottage. When you hear this, it is hard to ignore how openly such acts happened. This incident has raised deep doubts about monitoring at the fair.

During one rescue operation, officials saved five minor girls. Two were from Uttar Pradesh, one from Madhya Pradesh, one from Chhattisgarh, and one from Nepal. You learn they were forced to dance and were not allowed to leave or refuse.

The fair is famous as one of Asia’s largest cattle markets, drawing thousands every year. But by night, parts of it change into entertainment zones. Authorities now link several shows to trafficking networks that trap young girls under the excuse of performance.

People are demanding tough action. You hear calls for strict checks, tighter security, and punishment for those running these operations. Unless authorities act fast, the fair’s name will remain tied not to tradition, but to exploitation.
