Sugar Daddy Culture Sweeping Hyderabad: Immoral but Real

A social trend that was once seen mostly in Western countries is now quietly spreading in Hyderabad as well. Along with changes like dating culture and live in relationships, the city is now witnessing the rise of what is commonly known as the sugar daddy and sugar mommy culture.

According to reports, several wealthy businessmen, CEOs, managing directors, and NRIs are part of this trend. These are usually men in their 40s or 50s who enter personal relationships with much younger women, offering financial support in return for companionship. What makes this more concerning is the scale. One online platform alone reportedly has over 11,000 Sugar Daddies from Hyderabad which indicates that this is no longer a rare phenomenon.

For many youngsters, these arrangements appear to offer a shortcut to comfort and stability. With rising education costs, low entry level salaries, high rents, and constant pressure to look successful, some see sugar relationships as a practical way to escape financial stress. Expensive gifts, rent support, travel, and lifestyle upgrades replace the slow and uncertain climb of a regular career path.

These relationships are largely transactional. Both sides usually understand the terms clearly. Emotional bonding or long-term commitment is not the foundation. Money and convenience take priority. Social media has played a big role in normalizing this lifestyle by often glamorizing luxury without showing the realities behind it.

The trend is not limited to men. Sugar mommy relationships are also growing, involving financially independent women who seek companionship without long term obligations. Younger men offer time and attention to these ladies who crave attention and care to make them feel desirable and loved and in return these women take care of the expenses of these guys.

This is not simply a moral debate. It reflects deeper urban realities. When money decides access to comfort, safety, and status, even personal relationships start following economic logic. The fact that thousands of people in Hyderabad are openly registered on such platforms shows how much priorities and values are shifting in modern city life.

Sugar culture may still be spoken about in whispers, but it is no longer invisible. It is a sign of the pressures, inequalities, and aspirations shaping today’s urban society.
