Indian tech giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has begun layoffs again. The company is removing employees who lack AI-related skills or cannot meet client needs. Those leaving are getting notice periods and severance benefits based on their years of service.
Around 12,000 employees who were laid off in July received packages. TCS is giving a three-month notice with full salary and severance ranging from six months to two years. Employees on the bench for more than eight months are receiving smaller packages limited to notice period salaries.
Staff with 10–15 years in the company are being offered 18 months of salary. Those with over 15 years are receiving two years of salary. The company is also providing outplacement services to help affected employees find new roles.
Under the TCS Cares programme, some employees are being offered mental health therapy. The company is also assisting those nearing retirement by speeding up the process. In addition to severance, insurance benefits are also being provided.
