In a dramatic scene reminiscent of a Bollywood film, a wanted criminal named Abhishek Tomar, alias Shooter AK-47, was finally arrested by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch after hours of high tension.
The arrest operation unfolded in the Odhav area of Ahmedabad, where Abhishek had been hiding in a flat within the Shivam Awas Yojana building.
When the police team reached his location based on a tip-off, Abhishek refused to open the door. As officers broke in, he rushed to the balcony and threatened to jump off the building if they approached.
Taking inspiration from the classic film Sholay, he even went live on Instagram during the standoff, adding a filmy layer to the intense situation. Police were forced to call in fire brigade units, set up safety nets, and coordinate a rescue operation while also preparing for a potential suicide attempt.
Abhishek, a wanted accused in several cases, had built a flamboyant online persona under the name “Shooter AK-47.”
His Instagram bio read, “Those who consider themselves important in this city surely know me,” alongside religious captions like “No one can harm me when the one who runs the world is with me.”
After several tense hours, police used controlled force to arrest him safely. The entire episode has sparked widespread attention in Gujarat, both due to the dramatic rescue and his colorful online presence.
The Ahmedabad police are now interrogating him for further leads into ongoing investigation.
