Viral sensation Monalisa seemingly avoided horror when she was offered a lead role in a movie out of nowhere. The director who brought this “opportunity” for the teenage girl is now held for rape charges.
Delhi police have arrested director Sanoj Mishra for allegedly raping and blackmailing a struggling actress from Jhansi. The young woman has accused him of exploiting her under the pretense of making her a film star.
According to reports, the director coerced the victim by threatening to end his life if she didn’t meet him. She claims Mishra took her to a resort where he drugged, raped, and filmed her, continuing to blackmail and assault her later as well.
However, there are also reports of both of them having a live-in relationship for 4 years in Mumbai. It could be another instance of the director abusing his power or maybe there’s more truth beyond what meets the eye.
Monalisa, a shopkeeper at Maha Kumbh, suddenly rose to fame for her looks and caught the attention of Mishra. The Director suddenly giving her a main lead in his next project, The Diary of Manipur, without any audition should itself have raised flags.
It is clear that Sanoj Mishra just wanted to capitalize on Monalisa’s popularity and possibly do something worse. Nonetheless, given the complex details of this case, it would be wise to wait for the court’s verdict.
